NEWS 2015

We are very excited to announce that we have now been granted our Kennel Name,  Lalinte Ridgebacks has a special meaning to us, it is pronounced with the ‘e’ on the end, we have  taken our first initials, L for Leonie and A for Arron and then added Linte meaning ribbons in Afikaans. We are hoping to have a litter of puppies from Missy in the not too distant future. Please do contact me if you would be interested in a puppy.

Being a natural show woman I couldn’t resist having a go at showing in the dog world, Emma Taylor who bred Missy threw me straight in at the deep end and the first show we attended was when Missy was nearly 6 months old at the Southern Rhodesian Ridgeback Championship show, Missy won her class and went on to be awarded best puppy bitch, and qualifying for Crufts in her first outing we were elated and so the seed was sown. In January 2014 Missy was awarded her Reserve Challenge Certifcate earning her Kennel Club stud book number and qualifying her for Crufts for Life. We have had the most incredible year showing Missy here are some of our results and critiques below. In 2015 Missy achieved a third place at Crufts! We were absolutely thrilled with her, what an achievement and to top it off she loved every second of it and made plenty of new friends.

Crufts 2015

Judge Gill Lawless

Post Graduate Bitch (15)

3rd  Holloway’s Tokwe After Eight. A more compact type with nice body proportions, pretty head of good plains, dark round eye and large well set ears. She has a nice front and clean neck onto good shoulders, level top line and deep chest with enough length to ribbing, elbows close fitting, good straight limbs onto tight feet. Her rear quarters are nicely angulated which she used well going around.

PB (12, 2 Abs).  One of my favourite classes of the day with so many worthy exhibits out of the cards. 1.  HOLLOWAY Tokwe After Eight. So similar in type to my MPB. Superb outline, so very well balanced. Correct size with super angulation, length, front and feet. Handler needs to relax on the move to make the most of this bitch’s potential.

Minor Puppy Bitch (11) 9
As always a minor puppy class is difficult because of great variations in development.
1st Tokwe After Eight. Quality puppy. Well put together and has a great expression. Gives a beautiful picture in sound breed typical action.

Where my desire of Ridgebacks began

As a young child we were lucky enough to own a wonderful family puppy we named Karla, she was a Rhodesian Ridgeback cross Labrador, she had a short coat and a ridge and was the most incredible dog a family we could have ever wished for.  She was a very special dog with the most loyal and patient character. Our family had many dogs over the years but Karla had cemented my love in the ridgeback breed.

Why we ended up showing our Ridgebacks

Mia our 12 year old cocker spaniel was in desperate need of a companion and I finally decided in was time to bite the bullet and search for my very own Ridgeback, after a few horror stories whilst trying to find our perfect puppy, we stumbled across The Taylor family and their Tokwe gang.  From that day on our lives were transformed. We are now owned by our very own Tokwe puppy ‘Tokwe After Eight’ aka Missy. As a puppy she was the ‘naughtiest’ in the litter, but has blossomed into the most incredible, loyal, affectionate and fun dog we could ever wish for. Rhodesian Ridgebacks are an incredible breed, known for their loyalty, grace and intelligence, they can be aloof with strangers but completely protective to their own family.
